§ Mrs. HartThere are about 780,000 public service pensioners, excluding Armed Forces pensioners. Over 656,000 will benefit from increases proposed under the Pensions (Increase) Bill with effect from 1st April, 1969, and of this number it is estimated that between 6 per cent. and 8 per cent. are receiving pensions which began before 1946.
