HC Deb 17 February 1969 vol 778 c6W
33. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will visit Italy to discuss with Signor Nenni plans for arranging a nuclear-free zone in the Mediterranean.

Mr. M. Stewart

No, but we are always ready to discuss arms control proposals both in the Eighteen-Nation Disarmament Committee and elsewhere. The creation of nuclear-free zones is, of course, primarily a matter for the initiative of the countries in the areas concerned.
