HC Deb 17 February 1969 vol 778 c46W
Mr. Waddington

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will cause an inquiry to be made into the private fostering of babies with particular reference to the case of the mother living in Nelson who purported to sign away her child, details of which case have been given to him.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

The Children and Young Persons Bill which is now before the House includes proposals to strengthen the control of private fostering in a number of ways, some of which are relevant tode facto adoptions of this nature. I am writing to the hon. Member about the case in Nelson to which he refers.
