HC Deb 14 February 1969 vol 777 c390W
Mr. Patrick Jenkin

asked the Minister of Overseas Development whether there will be a repesentative of Her Majesty's Government present at the talks on promoting private foreign investment in developing countries to be held under the auspices of the United Nations at Amsterdam from 16th to 20th February; and what will be his status.

Mr. Prentice

Her Majesty's Government will not be represented at the forthcoming Panel at Amsterdam on the promotion of investment in developing countries. No representatives of the Governments of developed countries (other than the host country) will attend. Membership of the Panel is limited to representatives of the developing countries and of foreign investors, all members being appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and serving in their personal capacities. A distinguished representative of British industry, Sir Duncan Oppenheim, will be a member.
