§ Mr. CallaghanInformation is readily available only in respect of major demonstrations in the Metropolitan Police District during these years. In one such demonstration in 1967, 51 persons were arrested; five received sentences of imprisonment. In three demonstrations in 1968, 337 persons were arrested; 17 received sentences of imprisonment and 33 suspended sentences of imprisonment.
