§ Mr. Elystan MorganThe numbers of persons convicted by magistrates' courts in England and Wales of cruelty to, or neglect of, children under Section 1 of the Children and Young Persons Act, 1933, were 343 in 1966 and 322 in 1967. The numbers of persons convicted of this offence by the higher courts are not known exactly, but were less than 25 in each year. Figures for 1968 are not yet available.
