HC Deb 12 February 1969 vol 777 c325W
85 and 90. Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) what consideration has been given by Her Majesty's Government to the provision of a diversionary airport in Northern Ireland;

(2) what arrangements have been effected for the use of military airfields in Northern Ireland by civil airlines in times of emergency, bad weather and for diversionary purposes.

Mr. William Rodgers

The selection of a diversionary aerodrome for weather or emergency reasons or on account of aerodrome unserviceability, is a matter for the airline operator. The Ministry of Defence are prepared to consider any application for the use of R.A.F. Bally-kelly by civil air operators for these or, indeed, for any purposes.
