asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what restrictions have been placed on the obstetric services provided by the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Welwyn Garden City; what are the reasons for the restrictions; and what effect will this have on patients in the locality.

Mr. Ennals

Because of shortage of midwifery staff, the acceptance of bookings and emergency admissions is restricted until April, 1969, to patients resident in the Mid Herts. Group Hospital Management Committee area.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services for how long the Bramfield Ward in the Queen Elizabeth 11 Hospital, Welwyn Garden City, has been closed; what is the reasons for the closure; how many beds are affected; and when it is expected to reopen the ward.
