HC Deb 11 February 1969 vol 777 c269W
69. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make a statement about the undertaking which he has given to the representatives of the International Monetary Fund as to public expenditure.

Mr. Harold Lever

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer has given no such undertaking. My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary's Letter of Intent of 23rd November, 1967 stated the Government's intention to keep the borrowing requirement under £1,000 million. It will, in fact, be very considerably less than that figure.
