What was the exact nature of the property and other assets, other than gold bars deposited with the Bank of England by the Baltic States and subsequently vested in the Custodian of Enemy Property; and what was the value of that property and those other assets, when converted into cash.
§ LORD CHALFONTNo property or other assets vested in the Custodian of Enemy Property was received from the Bank of England in the names of either the Baltic States or any of their Governments. The gold which was vested was initially reported in the names of the former central banks of the Baltic States.
Property and assets of persons formerly resident or carrying on business in the Baltic States now vested in the Custodian of Enemy Property consists cash, securities, bank balances and other miscellaneous property. The value of that part of this property and other assets which is now in monetary form excluding the proceeds of the gold is about £700,000. The process of realisation is not yet complete.
