§ Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will remit to the National Board for Prices and Incomes the increased rents that the National Coal Board is proposing to charge for its houses let to miners in South Ayrshire.
§ Mr. RossNo. I understand that the increases are subject in most instances to the fair rent provisions of the Rent Act, 1965, which ensure that the tenants are consulted by the rent officer and have a subsequent right of appeal to a rent assessment committee, and also to Section 9 of the Prices and Incomes Act, 1968, which limits the amount of the increase in any year.
