HC Deb 04 February 1969 vol 777 cc78-9W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that certain British travel agents give bookings to foreign airlines in order to obtain votes for recognition by International Air Transport Association; what estimate he has made of the loss of revenue to British European Airways and British Overseas Airways Corporation arising from this practice; if he will take steps to end this practice; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Rodgers

I have no reason to suppose that there is any net loss of revenue, since with the worldwide I.A.T.A. system any loss suffered by British airlines in the United Kingdom is likely to be offset by gains abroad.
