asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will introduce legislation to extend the powers of the Parliamentary Commissioner to include local government matters.

As I said in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe (Mr. Alfred Morris) on 23rd July, this is not a proposal which the Maud Committee on Management favoured. This must be considered in the context of many interlocking local government issues.—[Vol. 769, c.56.]
