HC Deb 04 February 1969 vol 777 c64W
42. Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Minister for the Civil Service which new Government offices or agencies were sited in Scotland in 1968; and how many jobs were provided in each case.

Mrs. Hart

No new dispersed offices were sited in Scotland in 1968 but in August it was announced that an Inland Revenue Computer Centre to do London work would be located in the Edinburgh area. On present estimates up to 3,000 jobs wil be provided. In December it was decided that the central London Drawing Office of the G.P.O. should be moved to Glasgow. About 100 people will be employed in it.
