Mr. Alec Jonesasked the Minister of Transport whether, before approving the proposal to close the Treherbert-Bridgend line, he will obtain a report showing the dates over the preceding 10 years on which maintenance and repair works were carried out on the Blaenrhondda Railway Tunnel before its collapse and showing detailed specifications of the work done on each occasion.
§ Mr. CarmichaelNo. My right hon Friend's eventual decision on the closure proposal will take account of all relevant financial, social and economic factors, but past treatment of the tunnel is irrelevant.
