HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 cc50-1W
Mr. Lane

asked the Minister of Power (1) what will be the maximum electricity generating capacity each month in 1969; what is his estimate of the peak demand in each month assuming average weather and normal demand; and to what extent peak demand will be reduced by special industrial tariffs;

(2) what was the maximum, minimum and average demand for electricity, in megawatts, in Great Britain during each month in 1968; what this represented as a percentage of maximum generating capacity; and what was the amount of surplus generating capacity.

Mr. Freeson

I am asking the Chairman of the Central Electricity Generating Board to let the hon. Member have what information is available for England and Wales. Electricity in Scotland is a matter for my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Scotland.
