HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 c51W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Power why his employees at Farnworth, Manchester and Newcastle-upon-Tyne were given three days' holiday at Christmas and another on New Year's Day.

Mr. Freeson

None of the Ministry's four offices in Newcastle-upon-Tyne was closed both on New Year's Day and for a third day in Christmas week. The testing offices at Farnworth and Manchester were, because the factories they serve were closed, and leave taken on New Year's Day counted against the staff's own annual entitlement.
