§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Attorney-General whether he is aware of the growing number of legal cases of all descriptions where the costs involved for a relatively few days in court amount to between £5,000 and £15,000; and whether he will investigate the fees and payments made and received to see to what extent they are in accordance with the Government's policy on pay and productivity.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe average cost of cases has hardly increased over 39W the last four years and cases costing between £5,000 and £15,000 are quite exceptional. There are no grounds for an investigation of the kind suggested.
