HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 cc38-9W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Attorney-General whether he is aware of the growing number of legal cases of all descriptions where the costs involved for a relatively few days in court amount to between £5,000 and £15,000; and whether he will investigate the fees and payments made and received to see to what extent they are in accordance with the Government's policy on pay and productivity.

The Attorney-General

The average cost of cases has hardly increased over the last four years and cases costing between £5,000 and £15,000 are quite exceptional. There are no grounds for an investigation of the kind suggested.
