asked the Minister of Transport if he will hold a public inquiry to evaluate the economic need for the construction of a Channel Tunnel.

Mr. Marsh

No. A full economic reassessment of the Tunnel project will be made as part of the final phase of Anglo-French studies. The results will be published before a decision to begin construction is taken.
