§ Mr. Gardnerasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will use his powers under the Weights and Measures Act 1963 to allow goods to be sold in specified metric as well as imperial quantities.
§ Mr. MasonYes. The Board of Trade and the Metrication Board will be glad to discuss metrication programmes with manufacturers of such goods. Once the arrangements have been agreed, I shall be prepared to exercise my powers under the Act to enable them to be implemented. I hope that in the case of goods sold by weight agreement will generally be possible on a series of weights of 25, 50, 75, 125, 250, 375, 500, 750 g, 1kg, 1.5 kg, 2 kg.
