§ Mr. Thorpeasked the Minister of Transport what estimate he has made of the cost of sending motorists a reminder for renewal of the car licence in a manner similar to reminders sent by local authoritimes in respect of the renewal of a dog licence.
§ Mr. MulleyThe cost under the present system would be about £500,000 a year in postage, together with a heavy extra clerical workload which the present system could not support. But, after centralization in accordance with the Vehicle & Driving Licences Act, 1969, the use of reminders will bring operational savings.
