Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Defence what steps the General Officer Commanding North Ireland has taken to ensure security in the Falls Road area of Belfast; and whether he will now withdraw the military escorts accompanying Royal Ulster Constabulary patrols in that area so that police patrols will be enabled to carry out their normal duty to maintain law and order which they have been unable to do for four months.
