§ Dame Joan Vickersasked the Secretary of State for Defence why he gave his approval to the loan of a Royal Navy film for exhibition in the Grand Committee Room, on the question of the retention of aircraft carriers in service after 1971; whether the film was made with his authority; and if he will now make a statement on the rôle of the aircraft carriers after 1971.
§ Dr. David OwenI do not accept that the film excerpts included in the presentation "Know Your Navy" indicates any change in the Government's policy on the phasing-out of the aircraft carriers.
