HC Deb 16 December 1969 vol 793 c270W
73. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will give the number of houses so far completed in Hull in 1969 to the latest date; and what is the estimated total to be built in 1970.

Mr. Freeson

This year up to the end of October 1,062 houses had been completed by the local authority in Hull, and it is estimated that six or seven hundred more will be completed by the end of the year. The Council's estimate of the number of starts to be approved for tender this year is 1,700, and for 1970 is 1,200.

When my right hon. Friend visited the authority early in the year he said that he would consider sympathetically any proposals the council might make for expanding the housebuilding programme.
