§ Mr. Harold WalkerOfficers of my Department have had a number of meetings with both sides in this dispute. The most recent of these was held on 2nd December, when lengthy discussions took place with both sides. These showed clearly that there was then no basis of settlement acceptable to both sides. My Department is keeping in close touch with the parties, and will be ready to undertake further intervention as soon as this seems likely to be useful.
