§ Mr. FreesonThe number of owner-occupiers in Great Britain at December 1968 is estimated at 8.5 million, of whom an estimated 4.8 million were financing the purchase of their houses through borrowing. About 3.3 million were buying their houses through building societies; the number buying their houses with loans from local authorities is not known.
