HC Deb 11 December 1969 vol 793 c162W
Mr. Channon

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when the new York Railway Museum will be completed.

Miss Jennie Lee

It is at present expected that the work of converting the premises will be completed in the Autumn of 1971. Since it will take at least a year to move and install the exhibits, the museum should open towards the end of 1972.

Mr. Channon

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he proposes to enter into a contract for the conversion of the premises designed as the new York Railway Museum.

Miss Jennie Lee

British Railways Board will convert the premises for the new Railway Museum at York and hand them over to the Government after the work is completed. It is hoped that it will start next summer.
