§ Mr. Barnettasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what is his estimate of the effect on revenue receipts in 1970–71 of a removal of earned income relief combined with, for earned income, a reduction in the reduced rate of 2s. and in the standard rate of 2s. 3d.;
(2) what is his estimate of the effect on revenue receipts in 1970–71 of a removal of earned income relief combined with an increase in the standard rate of 1s. 9d. for all incomes above £5,000 per annum;
(3) what is his estimate of the effect on revenue receipts in 1970–71 of a removal of earned income relief combined with, for earned income, the removal of the reduced rate and a reduction of the standard rate of income tax by 2s. 3d.
