asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what, by both value and volume, were the imports of temperate foodstuffs into the United Kingdom for the first nine months of 1965 and the first nine months of 1969, respectively.

In the first nine months of 1965 the value of imports of foods and feedingstuffs of kinds which can be produced in this country was £670 million. The corresponding figure for 1969 was £780 million, representing an increase in value of 16½, per cent. Volume increase by about 7 per cent.
