HC Deb 09 December 1969 vol 793 c70W
Mr. Rossi

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the annual cost of maintaining the present rent tribunal system; and how much of this cost is attributable to remuneration of members of the various tribunals, salaries for the provision of clerical and other assistance, rents and outgoings for office accommodation and tribunal venues, and any other items, respectively.

Mr. Denis Howell

The annual cost of rent tribunals cannot be separated from that of the rent assessment panel service as the operation of both services is now integrated. The current annual cost of both services in England is approximately £752,000.

This is broadly divided up as follows:

£
Remuneration of members 250,000
Salaries of staff 285,000
Rents and outgoings for office accommodation 160,000
Other items 57,000
