(2) how many new jobs have been created in each of the development areas in the United Kingdom since 1964.
§ Mr. UrwinThe main form of Government assistance to development areas which is linked to the provision of new employment is that given under the Local Employment Acts, 1960–66; most other assistance, including investment grants, is not employment-linked. The average amount of assistance offered under these acts in respect of each job estimated by firms to arise, and the total estimated number of jobs was as follows:
