§ Mr. SkeffingtonThe Department has approved three reclamation schemes for the County Borough of Gateshead, covering 101 acres of derelict land and costing £124,908. Grant approved at 85 per cent. amounts to £106,171 of which £82,238 has been paid to date. The council's share of this expenditure is therefore £18,737; this also attracts assistance (roughly one quarter for Gateshead) through the resources element of the Rate Support Grant.
