HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c358W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT all grants made for sporting and recreational facilities in the West Riding, on the recommendation of the Yorkshire and Humberside Sports Council, during 1968–69.

Mr. Denis Howell

The scheme under which Regional Sports Councils now advise on the priority to be accorded to applications for grant by local sports clubs came into operation only towards the end of 1968. This was too late to affect the offer of grants for the financial year 1968–69.

However, the following clubs were offered grant in the year 1968–69 under the old arrangements:

Yorkshire West Riding:

  • Stainforth (Hatfield Main) Miners Welfare Scheme.
  • Worsbrough Bridge Miners Welfare Scheme.
  • Skipton Lawn Tennis Club.
  • Bradford Pothole Club.
  • Liversedge Lawn Tennis Club.
  • Killinghan Cricket Club.
  • Donestone Sailing Club.
  • Stain borough Cricket Club.
  • Rodillians Rugby Union Football Club.

Yorkshire East Riding:

  • Bubwith Village Hall and Playing Field.
  • Flamborough Sports Club Trust Committee.
  • Malton and Norton Golf Club.

Leeds:

  • Headingley Football Club.
  • Leeds Corinthian Hockey Club.

York County Borough:

  • York Squash Rackets Club.

Lincs.—Lindsey:

  • Horncastle and District Lawn Tennis Club.

The total amount of grant offered in respect of these schemes was £54,115.
