§ Mr. DellThe unemployment rate for the Mexborough and Goldthorpe travel-to-work area exceeded 5 per cent. in two months in 1963 and each month since June, 1968.
My local officers are continuing their efforts to help those unemployed to find suitable work, including the offer of opportunities for training where appropriate. Mexborough and Goldthorpe are included in the new Yorkshire coalfield intermediate area, and the benefits this will bring should help to reduce the level of unemployment.
