HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 cc378-80W
Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Minister of Transport which public bodies have submitted to him proposals in accordance with Section 48 (4) of the Transport Act, 1968; what were the specific schemes submitted by those bodies; and what was his decision on each proposal.

Mr. Murray

The British Railways Board have submitted to my right hon. Friend proposals as to the manner in which they intend to carry on activities of manufacture and repair for outside persons under Section 48 (2) of the Transport Act, 1968, and manufacture for the purpose of the business of the Board, and of other nationalised transport authorities, under Section 13 of the Transport Act, 1962. We hope to make a statement on these proposals shortly. Proposals have not yet been submitted by the other authorities to which Section 48 (4) of the Act applies.
