HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c355W
Sir J. Eden

asked the Minister of Technology what is the anticipated demand in the United Kingdom for solid smokeless fuel in the winter months 1969–70 and 1970–71; and if he is satisfied that supplies will be adequate in both cases.

Mr. Harold Lever

Domestic demand in 1969–70 is estimated to be about 41 million tons if there is a normal winter, and should be no higher in 1970–71. Generally supplies this winter, and those planned by producers for 1970–71 should be adequate, although there may be local difficulties in obtaining some grades, particularly in severe weather.
