Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Transport why he will not consider introducing a feasibility study to ascertain the extent of loss or saving resulting from a decision that all fares on public transport should be abolished and that the saving on conductors, ticket collectors, tickets, accountancy and other services connected with the printing and issuing of road and rail tickets should be used to finance those services in part with a national transport levy to meet the difference.

I can see no advantage in a study of this nature.
