Mr. Gregor Mackenzieasked the Minister of Technology what was the number of jobs created in the Burgh of Rutherglen in each year since 1963 to the latest convenient date; how many of these jobs have been in manufacturing trades; how many in service and allied trades; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. VarleyFigures for jobs created are not available, but the number of jobs expected to arise from projects for which industrial development certificates were granted since 1st January, 1963, in the Rutherglen Employment Exchange Area was estimated by the applicants for the354W certificates to be 797. Of these, 648 were in manufacturing industry and 149 in service industries. It is not practicable to indicate how many jobs were expected by the applicants to arise each year.
