§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what advice he has given to local government officers who have notified him of their concern about the effect of the proposed earnings-related contributory national pension scheme on existing public service pension arrangements and what consultations he has had about this matter.
§ Mr. EnnalsFor the advice my right hon. Friend gave to local government officers I would refer the hon. Gentleman to my right hon. Friend's reply to a similar Question by the right hon. Member for Kingston-upon-Thames (Mr. Boyd-Carpenter) on 20th October. I met representatives of the National and Local Government Officers Association on several occasions. In addition both my right hon. Friend and I have met deputations from local branches and last week my right hon. Friend addressed a national meeting of the Association.—[Vol. 788, cc. 739–41.]
