§ Mr. Speedasked the Minister of Transport what action he proposes to take to reduce the number of accidents on the A5 trunk road between Grendon and the Tamworth borough boundary.
§ Mr. MarshPedestrian barriers have already been put up at the end of the footpath and on the central reserve near Vicarage Close in Dordon. I am also considering the imposition of a 50 m.p.h. speed limit on this length and the installation of street lighting between Birch 257W Coppice Colliery and Grendon roundabout. At Grendon roundabout a "Reduce Speed Now" sign will be put up and a direction sign resited; the present 3-lane road markings will be terminated at a greater distance from the traffic island and a skid test will be carried out on the road surface. I am also considering whether any further measures can be introduced to increase the safety of pedestrians.
