Mr. R. W. Brownasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received from the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council in regard to nasal cancer in woodworkers in the furniture industry; and what replies he has sent.
§ Mr. EnnalsDuring the past year the Council has been studying the results of independent research into the incidence of nasal cancer in the furniture industry. It has now recommended that the disease be added to the schedule of diseases prescribed under the Industrial Injuries Acts. I am pleased to tell my hon. Friend, who has made representations on this matter, that my right hon. Friend has accepted this recommendation. The necessary amending regulations will be made very shortly.
