§ Mr. John MackieInformation about the number of individual price increases is not available from official sources. However, under the early warning arrangements for food and drink, 51 proposals to increase prices, many of them covering more than one item, have been notified to my Department this year. Of these, 26 have been accepted in full, and a further 10 after modification, as being consistent with the criteria of the White Paper on Productivity, Prices and Incomes Policy (Cmnd. 3590). The other 15 are under consideration.
