asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of patients on the lists of general practitioners in excess of the population; what is his estimate of the effect of inflated lists upon the remuneration of general practitioners; and if he will make a statement.

About 1.13 million in England and Wales at 1st July, 1968. The Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration are given information enabling them to take account of the inflation of doctors' lists when formulating their recommendations.
