§ 12. Mr. Awdryasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what percentage of young workers under the age of 18 years were receiving part-time further education in 1968 and in each of the preceding four years.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsIn 1967–68, 260,000 young workers under 18 representing 22.5 per cent. of the total, were released by their employers for part-time day or block release courses. Corresponding percentages for the preceding four years, beginning 1963–64, were 18.4, 19, 19.9 and 22.1. These percentages do not include students on evening-only courses. In addition, over 600,000 young people over compulsory school age were still at school in January, 1968.
