HC Deb 24 April 1969 vol 782 c126W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many clubs had paid duty for a licence for all games under Section 13 of the Finance Act, 1966, in March, 1968, and March, 1969, respectively, in London and other areas.

Mr. Harold Lever

Of 784 gaming licences for all games in force on 31st March, 1969, 128 were issued in London and 656 in other areas. In some cases licences were for premises outside the area of issue. Corresponding figures as at 31st March, 1968, are not available but it is estimated that about 1,000 such licences were then current.
