§ Sir J. Gilmourasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what extra costs have been incurred by Scottish local authorities this winter in snow clearing operations; and what cost has been incurred in the clearing of trunk roads.
§ Mr. RossThe cost of dealing with snow and ice on trunk roads is estimated at £532,000 for the year ended 31st March, 1969, which is about £75,000 more than in 1967–68. I have no information about the cost of snow clearing on roads for which local highway authorities are responsible.
