§ Mr. BuchanThe average annual cost per inmate in Scottish penal establishments in the financial year 1966–67 was £728 2s. 7d. compared with £788 Is. 4d. in the previous year. The cost per head 75W was less in 1966–67 because, although expenditure rose in that year, there was a greater proportionate increase in the average number in custody.
