HC Deb 21 April 1969 vol 782 c41W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made of the cost in a full year to agriculture and to fishing of the increase in road fuel duty.

Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will estimate the increased cost to farmers as a result of the increase in costs of hydrocarbon oils.

Mr. Hoy

The direct cost to agriculture (including horticulture) of the increase in duty on petrol and auto-diesel of 2.3d. per gallon would be about £1 million in a full year. The direct cost to fishing is likely to be very small.
