§ 53. Mr. Barnesasked the Minister of Transport what action he proposes to take to make the M4 less skid-prone following the recent report of the Road Research Laboratory.
§ Mr. MarshOn the elevated length of the motorway west of Chiswick arrangements are being made for early surface treatment to restore the non-skid properties. Meanwhile I have asked the police to indicate an advisory speed limit of 30 m.p.h. by means of the recently erected signalling system when the road is wet.
Some surface dressing has already been done at the western end of the Slough Maidenhead by pass. Tenders for widening and resurfacing the length from Langley to the Windsor interchange will be invited next July.
Mr. Edward M. Taylorasked the Minister of Transport what reports he has received from the Road Research Laboratory regarding the state of existing 3W motorways; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MarshI would refer to the Answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Brentford and Chiswick (Mr. Barnes) today.
