HC Deb 21 April 1969 vol 782 c26W
73. Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is aware of the lack of facilities for educating deaf and partially deaf children in North Wales; and if he will take steps to provide boarding facilities to cater for children from this large area within the area itself.

Mr. Denis Howell

The number of deaf and partially hearing children in North Wales is far too small for the establishment of an effective boarding school, and it is not good practice to educate deaf and partially hearing children together. But there may be scope for one or more partially hearing units in ordinary schools in this area, and this possibility is being investigated further.
